This is the third year I’ve attempted a “Project 365” challenge.* I haven’t completed one yet; the first year, it was trying to do it alone that was my undoing. I ran out of ideas and realized I needed the help of pre-set photo prompts. Last year, life got too crazy. I wasn’t able to keep up when my PTSD and anxiety got too overwhelming. I thought about picking up the project again in the fall, but decided to wait for the new year.
So, here it is 2016 and I have one month of photo-a-day completed! Only 11 more to go – I’m pretty sure I can do it this time, especially since this year is all about my creative inner life becoming a creative outer life. When I have another month completed, I’ll show that off as well. Look for CY365 posts on the first Sunday of each month.
Bear in mind, when looking at the images for January, that quite a few of them are labeled #offprompt. That’s because I had a hard time with this first month of prompts and finding ways to take a picture that both expressed my life and fulfilled the prompt. Many just didn’t inspire me. When torn, I went with life, rather than prompt, because that’s what this project is really about for me.
Want to join me? My prompt lists come from Capture Your 365. They offer classes and memberships as well, and they have a forum for chatting with others doing the challenge and feature their favourite posts daily on Instagram. I mainly just post on Instagram – I need to keep this easy and do-able if I’m going to do it, and making it too intense by posting things in too many places or taking on too many challenges or trying to learn too much rather than learning by doing makes it intimidating to me. You can follow me on Instagram if you want to see more, including reasons why I chose certain subjects for certain prompts, or keep watching here for more updates!
*Technically, this is a Project 366, since this is a leap year – even more of a challenge! But I’m still referring to it as a Project 365 as that’s the common parlance for this kind of challenge.

says:Fun idea! I love #space. What a cool little work space! Although, probably frustrating at times:)

says:Ha, thank you! That’s actually one of the days I had no trouble thinking of what to take a picture of, as it’s the space I use for anything artsy/craftsy – even just journaling. But it’s so messy and crammed with stuff right now that I almost shied away from taking a picture. Still… if I’d cleaned it up first it wouldn’t have reflected my reality! Which apparently, when I look back at the pictures as a whole, is mostly animals and my husband, haha. And a few walks around my neighborhood. But that’s the point, documenting life!
